WHAT IS TUNAHAKI?

TunaHAKI is Swahili for “We have a right”, and it is a phrase that the street children of Moshi, Tanzania came up with themselves as they set out to find a better life.

The TunaHAKI Canada Foundation is a non-profit organization acting as the Canadian fundraising partner for the Tunahaki Centre for Child Development, a unique arts-based shelter for orphans and vulnerable children in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.

Over the last decade, the centre has rescued more than 100 abandoned, abused or orphaned children from the streets of Moshi, providing them with food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care, and the right to a secure future.

Through our partnership with the parent TunaHAKI Foundation, the TunaHAKI Canada Foundation is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Tanzanian children, rescuing them from poverty and hunger, supporting their health and education, encouraging them to become self-reliant and empowering them by providing not just care, but hope.
