THE TUNAHAKI KIDS

Colman Msafiri

"I was born 13 years ago. I was obtained by TunaHAKI at Moshi bus stand. After my father passed away, I was left to the care of my mother who had mental illness. She left me at the bus stop one day and ordered me to wait there until she returned. I waited for one week, but she never came back. I am now an artist performing acrobatic and dance throughout the local community. I insist our group be sustained so that it can help to make our group travel big distance all over Tanzania. We hope one day to go abroad and learn new technology of acrobatic. I like TunaHAKI because it gives me food and it makes me feel good when people clap." - Colman

Winfrida Stanley

"I was born 16 years ago at Uru village in Kilimanjaro region. I expect to join secondary education next year. I am an orphan. I was grown up under my grandmother’s care on the side of my mother. All my parents are dead. I know nothing in detail about my mother and father because they left me while I was unable to memorize each and every thing. My grandmother is greatly aged and very poor, that she couldn’t manage to look for three children, then forced I was roaming in the village asking for help. Then at TunaHAKI Centre, they have relationship with village leaders, and they referred me to TunaHAKI, and take care of me and enroll me in government primary school. I dream to be a professional artist. I request good friend and donors to support and keep going our acrobatic and dance group at TunaHAKI. TunaHAKI is togetherness. We need tools like vehicle for transport, acrobatic equipment. Educationally, I hope for support like uniform, school fees, school contribution and stationery. I hope for a permanent home instead of temporary renting like TunaHAKI is doing now. I want to visit poor orphan children like me for exchanging ideas. Our building has no tap water. This is making us uncomfortable to get safe and clean drinking water. I request support." - Winfrida

Emmanuel Hamza

Emmanuel was born 12 years ago. He came to the TunaHAKI Centre after the death of his mother and the subsequent abandonment of his father. With no other relatives to take care of him and his siblings, he was forced to live on the street. He and his siblings lived on the streets for 6 months until TunaHAKI found them. They have been living at TunaHAKI for over 6 years now.

"I need to travel to different places to see the wild animals. Our friends will help us with food, medical care and education. I need help. TunaHAKI makes me feel loved." - Emmanuel
